Arapahoe National Recreation Area |

The Arapahoe National Recreation Area is located in north central Colorado, near the headwaters of the Colorado River. The recreation area consists of five major reservoirs: Granby Reservoir, Shadow Mountain Reservoir, Willow Creek Reservoir, Meadow Creek Reservoir and Monarch Lake. Grand Lake is not part of the ANRA, although Shadow Mountain Reservoir is directly connected to the lake through the canal. The Drive time to the ANRA is about 2 hours from Denver. |

| Paddling Season: Late May to October. The reservoirs in the Arapahoe National Recreation Area are all high mountain lakes, and can have cool temperatures year round. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the summer, while snow is possible almost year round. Granby Reservoir
