Canoe Colorado's Trip E-mail List

Our Trip E-mail list is used for general trip and event announcements. The list allows you to get more detailed information about upcoming trips and events than what we generally post on the website.

We've moved the list slightly over to the Colorado Paddlers. You can now self-register for the list by visiting http://lists.canoecolorado.com/mailman/listinfo/paddlers

Paddling Enjoyment

The spirit of Canoe Colorado is rooted in paddling enjoyment. Common sense guides everything we do, but sometimes that fails. We have created rules and guidelines to help prevent common problems, and to address specific issues brought up within the group. more detail on the rules can be found on our trip schedule.

It's easy to say you should have the right type of boat, and the appropriate skills, for whatever trip you wish to participate on. We run a variety of trips, and a boat which is perfect for one type of trip will not always work on another. Active paddlers have 3 or more different boats, so they can choose the right one for the job. Skills are equally important. Someone who has the ability to control their craft on a small pond, might lack the skills for whitewater or long distance paddling or fast paced paddling.

Before signing up on a trip, we encourage you to consider if you have the proper equipment and skill for the trip. Look at the distances involved, the conditions, and the pace. A beginner overnight trip down the North Platte at Saratoga will be different from a run down Pumphouse or paddling upstream through Canyonlands.

Our goal with the trips is to have fun. If something doesn't sound like fun, we won't go for it. If you ask us to make an exception for one of our rules, we will consider it, but it needs to be for the better of the group. If the exception won't improve the experience for us, we probably won't agree to it.
